Let me get you another drink.
Mark, before Tony comes, I ought to explain something.
Yes, I’ve been waiting for that.
I haven’t told him anything about us.
That’s not surprising. It’s a tough thing to do.
When you telephoned this morning, I simply said you wrote crime stories.
And I’d met you once when you were here before.
That has a pretty guilty ring to it. I’d never use it in one of my stories.
Mark, I know you think it’s silly.
When you get to know Tony, you’ll understand why I said that.
Darling, I understand now. That doesn’t stop me from loving you.
It’s not as simple as that.
-Tony’s changed. -Thanks.
He’s a completely different person to the one I used to tell you about.
Really? When did all this happen?
That night I came to say goodbye.
When I left your apartment, I came back here.
I sat down on the sofa and had a good cry.
And then I fell asleep.
When I woke up…
There was Tony standing in the hall with his bags and tennis rackets.
He just said he decided to give up tennis and settle down to a job.
-Just like that? -Just like that.
Of course, I didn’t believe him at first, but he meant it, all right.
But he’s been wonderful ever since.
I suppose that’s when you stopped writing me.
Margot, is it?
Do you remember the letters you wrote to me?
Yes, I remember.
After I read them, I burned them. I thought it best.
All except one.
You probably know the one I mean.
Yes, I think I do.
What about it?
It was stolen.
Tony and I were going to spend the weekend in the country with friends.
While waiting on the platform, I noticed my handbag was missing.
And the letter was inside.
-Where was this? -Victoria Station.
I thought I’d left it in the restaurant, but when I went back, it had gone.
You mean you never found it?
I recovered the handbag about two weeks later…
from the lost and found,
but the letter wasn’t there.
Then about a week afterwards, I received a note.
It told me what I had to do to get the letter back.
Yes. Go ahead. Go on.
I was to draw ￡50 from my bank in ￡5 notes…
and then change them for used ￡1 notes.
It said that if I went to the police or told anyone else…
He would show the letter to my husband.
You still have the note?
Printed, all capitals.
-Anyone could’ve done this. -Two days later…
-I got this one. -Both mailed in Brixton.
“Throw half the money in a package and mail to John S. King.
23 Newport Street, Brixton SW9.
You’ll get your letter by return.”
It’s a little shop. People use it as a forwarding address.
You didn’t mail the money.
Yes, but the letter was never returned.
So after waiting about two weeks, I went there.
Said they had never heard of a man by that name.
The parcel was still there. It had never been opened.
That’s something, I suppose. May I keep these?
Yes, if you like.
I can’t understand why you didn’t tell me.
There wasn’t anything you could do.
You probably would have made me tell Tony and the police.
It was only ￡50, I thought I’d pay and have done with it.
I’m gonna tell Tony about us tonight.
No, Mark, please, you mustn’t.
You don’t understand. Tony’s changed.
拜托
Please.
I wish it was a year ago, when you came to say goodbye.
We were in the kitchen. I said, “I can’t go through with this.
Let’s find Tony and tell him all about it.”
I believe you’d have done it then.
Well, I can see this is gonna be a rough evening.
All of us saying nice things to each other.
Look, there’s only one thing you haven’t explained.
Why didn’t you burn that letter too?
There you are. We thought you were never coming.
-What have you been up to? -I’m sorry. The boss blew in…
-just as I was leaving. -Tony, this is Mark Halliday.
-Mark. -Tony.
I’m terribly sorry to be so late.
-How do you like it over here, Mark? -Well, fine. Just fine, Tony.
Is this your first visit to London?
No, no. I was here a year ago for vacation.
Oh, yes, that’s right. Margot told me.
You write for the radio, don’t you?
No, television, for my sins.
-Darling, did you reserve a table? -Yes, 7:00.
-Come on, then… -Darling, a slight alteration in plans.
-Now, don’t say you can’t go. -I’m afraid so.
Old man Burgess is flying to Brussels on Sunday.
And I have to get my monthly report in by tomorrow.
Can’t you do it when we get back?
I’m afraid not. It’ll take hours.
I shall have to fake half of it as it is.
Could you join us after the theater? We might go somewhere.
Give me a ring in intermission.
-lf I’m inspired, I might make it. -Well, do try.
I’ll just get my things, Mark.
-Here are the tickets. -Thanks, Tony.
I’m afraid this is terribly rude of me.
Not at all. I’m just sorry you can’t come.
-You must come to dinner. -I’d like that.
What are you doing tomorrow night?
Saturday? Nothing I know of.
Would you like to join a stag party?
-没错
-A stag party? -Yes.
Some Americans have been playing tennis all over the continent.
We’re giving them a farewell dinner.
-I’m not much of a tennis player. -Doesn’t matter.
You know New York and all that.
-Mark’s coming to the party tomorrow night. -Good.
You better drop in here first and have a drink.
-That’s the idea. -Yes. All right.
-I’ll try and get a taxi. -No, we can usually pick one up.
So long, darling.
Enjoy yourself.

Men, are you over 40?
When you wake up in the morning,do you feel tired and rundown?
Do you have that listless feeling?
– Jefferies. – Congratulations, Jeff.
– For what? – Getting rid of that cast.
Who said I was getting rid of it?
This is Wednesday.
Seven weeks from the dayabcyou broke your leg. Yes or no?
Gunnison, how did you get to be such a big editor with such a small memory?
Thrift, industry and hard work…
and catching the publisherabcwith his secretary.
– Did I get the wrong day? – No.
No, wrong week.
Next Wednesday I emergeabcfrom this… plaster cocoon.
That’s too bad, Jeff.
I can’t be lucky every day.
Forget I called.
Yeah, I sure feel sorry for you, Gunnison.
Must be rough on you thinking of me wearing this cast another whole week.
That one week is gonna cost me my best photographer,
and you a big assignment.
Where?
– There’s no point in even talking about it.
– No, come on, where?
Kashmir. Got a code tip from the bureau chief this morning.
The place is about to go up in smoke.
What did I tell you? Didn’t I tell you that’s the next place to watch?
You did. Okay, when do I leave?
Half hour, hour?
– With that cast on? You don’t. – Stop sounding stuffy.
I can take pictures from a jeep or a water buffalo.
You’re too valuable to the magazine for us to play around with.
I’ll send Morgan or Lambert.Morgan or Lambert.
That’s fine.
I get myself half- killed for you,
and you reward me by stealing my assignments.
I didn’t ask you to stand in the middle of that automobile race track.
You asked for something dramatically different.
– You got it. – So did you.
– Good- bye, Jeff. – Now, wait a minute, Gunnison.
with nothing to do but look out the window at the neighbors.
– Bye, Jeff. – No, Gunnison, I…
If you don’t pull me out of this swamp of boredom,
– I’m gonna do something drastic.abc – Like what?
“Like what?” I’m gonna get married.
Then I’ll never be able to go anywhere.
It’s about time you got married.
Before you turn into a lonesome and bitter old man.
Yeah, can’t you just see me?
I’m rushing home to a hot apartment…
to listen to the automatic laundry and the electric dishwasher…
and the garbage disposal and the nagging wife.
Jeff, wives don’t nag anymore, they discuss.
Is that so? Is that so?
Maybe in the high- rent district they discuss.
In my neighborhood, they still nag.
Yeah? Well, you know best. Call you later, Jeff.
Yeah, have some good news the next time, huh?
早安
Good morning.
I said, “Good morning!”
Oh, good morning.
I wouldn’t dig so deep if I were you.
You’re giving them far too much water.
Why don’t you shut up?
好吧
Well!
I do declare.
Oh, hello, Stella.
They got no windows in the workhouse.
In the old days,
they used to put your eyes out with a red- hot poker.
Any of those bikini bombshells you’re always
watching worth a red- hot poker?
Oh, dear. We’ve become a race of Peeping Toms.
What people ought to do is get outside their own house
and look in for a change.
Yes, sir. How’s that for a bit of homespun philosophy?
Well, I only quote from the best. Yeah.
You don’t have to take my temperature this morning.
Quiet. See if you can break 100.
I should have been a gypsy fortune- teller…
instead of an insurance company nurse.
I got a nose for trouble.
You heard of that market crash in 29?
I predicted that.
Just how did you do that, Stella?
Oh, simple. I was nursing a director of General Motors.
“Kidney ailment,” they said. “Nerves,” I said.
Then I asked myself, “What’s General Motors got to be nervous about?”
“Overproduction,” I says. Collapse.
When General Motors has to go to the bathroom ten times a day,
the whole country’s ready to let go.
Stella, in economics, a kidney ailment has no
relationship to the stock market.
None whatsoever. It crashed, didn’t it?
Yeah. I can smell trouble right here in this apartment.
First you smash your leg,
then you get to looking out the window, see things you shouldn’t see.
Trouble.
I can see you in court now surrounded
by a bunch of lawyers in double- breasted suits.
You’re pleading. You say,
“Judge, it was only a bit of innocent fun.
I love my neighbors, like a father.”
And the judge says, “Well, congratulations.
You’ve just given birth to three years in Dannemora.”
Right now, I’d welcome trouble.
You’ve got a hormone deficiency.
How can you tell from a thermometer?
Those bathing beauties you’ve been watching haven’t
raised your temperature one degree.
来吧
Here we go.
One more week.
I think you’re right.
– I think there is gonna be trouble around here. – I knew it.
Ooh. Do you ever heat that stuff?
– Gives your circulation something to fight. – Oh, I see.
– What kind of trouble? – Lisa Fremont.
You kidding? She’s a beautiful young girl,
and you’re a reasonably healthy young man.
– She expects me to marry her. – That’s normal.
– I don’t want to. – That’s abnormal.
I’m just not ready for marriage.
Every man’s ready for marriage when the right girl comes along.

like the eight cars in his care.
And he had a daughter by the name of… Sabrina.
Life was pleasant among the Larrabees,
for this was as close to heaven as one could get on Long lsland.
l reach for you like l’d reach for a star
Worshipping you from afar
Living with my silent love
l’m like a flame dying out in the rain
Only the ashes remain
Smould’ring like my silent love
How l long to tell…
Come on down from there, Sabrina! Come on.
You’d better go and finish your packing.
Who’s that girl, Father, dancing with David?
Her name is Gretchen Van Horn. Chase National Bank.
l hate girls that giggle all the time.
You hate every girl David looks at.
You can’t go on like this about David. You’ve got to get over it.
Yes, Father.
lt’s good you’re going away. l only hope it’s far enough.
-Yes, Father. -Come along, Sabrina.
ln a minute, Father. You go ahead. l’ll be up soon.
-Oh, it’s you, Sabrina. -Hello, David.
l thought l heard somebody.
No, it’s nobody.
Gretchen! Yoo-hoo! Tennis, anyone?
What is this, mixed singles?
No! You have to stay on your side of the net.
That’ll be a little difficult, Gretchen.
-You know the rules of the game. -OK, l’ll serve.
Sabrina!
Sabrina…
Yes, Father?
-Don’t leave your passport tomorrow. -No,Father.
lt’s not every girl that’s lucky enough to go to Paris.
我知道
I know.
And it’s the best cooking school in the world.
lf your mother were alive, she’d be happy you were going there.
She was the best cook on Long lsland.
l’m not saying you have to be a cook, as she was,
or that l want you to marry a chauffeur.
But you know how l feel.
Your mother and l had a good life together.
We were respected by everyone.
That’s as much as anyone can want.
Don’t reach for the moon, child.
No, father.
Besides, it never hurt a young girl to learn how to cook, did it?
l’ll wake you at seven. The boat goes at noon. Good night.
晚安
Good night.
What’s going on?
费契
Fairchild! Fairchild!
Anybody here?
是谁
Who’s that?
Sabrina, come out of there.
快出来
Come on, out of there.
你好
Hello.
What are you doing here?
-Just checking the spark plugs. -The what?
Father was worried because a spark plug was missing.
l wanted to find out which one it was.
So you started all the motors?
-l didn’t want to disturb anyone. -You might never have done so again.
-Does your father know? -No! l wanted to surprise him.
We’d better get out.
There now. Breathe deep.
That’s right. Now deeper.
-What happened? -You passed out.
l’m all right. You don’t have to carry me.
Of all the idiotic things…
Haven’t you ever heard of carbon monoxide? lt kills people.
What would have happened if l hadn’t come along?
-l’d have died. -And fast.
Eight cars! One would have done it.
Good thing Mrs Van Horn asked me to drive her home.
Mrs Van Horn? Gretchen’s mother?
-Why didn’t she drive her home? -We can’t find Gretchen.
-She… -She what?
没什么
Nothing.
The next time you start a car, leave the garage doors open. Understand?
A chauffeur’s daughter should know better.
Yes, sir.
Bonjour, mesdames et messieurs!
Yesterday we have learnt the correct way how to boil water.
Today we will learn the correct way how to crack an egg.
Voil, an egg!
Now an egg is not a stone. lt is not made of wood.
lt is a living thing with a heart.
So when we crack it we must not torment it.
We must be merciful and execute it quickly

He flew into my coop.
-You want him? -I got to watch myself these days.
How goes?
He’s up on the roof.
The pigeon?
Yeah, it worked.
I think somebody fell off the roof.
He thought he’d sing to the Crime Commission. He won’t.
I thought they’d talk to him.
对
That’s the idea.
I thought they’d talk to him and get him to dummy up.
Maybe he gave them an argument.
I figured the worst they was gonna do was lean on him a little bit.
Maybe he gave them an argument.
He’s been giving Johnny the Boss a lot of arguments lately.
He wasn’t a bad kid, that Joey.
A canary.
Maybe he could sing, but he couldn’t fly.
Come on, I’ll buy you a drink.
I’ll be in there later and….
Father Barry is here.
Same thing happened to my Andy five years ago.
-You’re the boy’s father? -That’s right.
Looks like he fell off the roof, or maybe he was pushed.
-Any ideas? -No.
He was the only longshoreman that had the guts to talk to the crime investigators.
-Who asked you? -Everybody knows that.
Shut up.
-lf he took my advice he wouldn’t be—Everyone knows that.
I said, “Shut up!”
I know how you feel about cops, but if you give me…
some leads I could
I kept telling him, “Don’t say nothing.
“Keep quiet, you’ll live longer.”
I’ve been on the docks all my life, boy, and there’s one thing I learned.
You don’t ask no questions, you don’t answer no questions…
unless you want to wind up like that.
Edie, come here.
I want to talk to you.
Father, who’d want to kill Joey?
Stay away from him! Stay away from him!
Edie, listen!
Remember time and faith are great healers.
Father, my brother is dead and you talk about time and faith.
My brother was the best kid in the neighbourhood and everybody said so.
I’m in the church if you need me.
You’re in the church if I need you?
Did you ever hear of a saint hiding in a church?
I want to know who killed my brother!
I got to put him to work. She’d murder me!
Counting makes me sleepy.
You handle that sheet metal all right?
It was easy. The new checker faked the receipt. Here.
You want to talk to me, take the cigar out of your mouth.
-Stow the receipt. I’ll take the cash. -Sure.
-Here you are, 45 bills. -Terry, you count this.
算啊
Come on, go on, it’s good for you.
-lt develops your mind. -What mind?
Shut up. I like the kid.
Remember the night he took Farella at St. Nick’s, Charley?
We won a bundle. Real tough. A big try.
I lost the count.
Okay, forget it, Einstein.
How come you never got an education like your brother Charley?
The only arithmetic he ever got was hearing the referee count up to 10.
You’re not too funny today, Fat Man.
Hey, what gives with our boy tonight, Charley?
He isn’t himself.
It’s the Joey Doyle thing and how he exaggerates the thing.
Too much Marquis of Queensbury softens him up.
Listen, I’m a soft touch, too. Ask any rummy on the dock…
if I’m not good for a fin any time they put the arm on me.
But my old lady raised us 10 kids on a stinking watchman’s pension.
When I was 16, I had to beg for work in the hold.
I didn’t work my way up out of there for nothing.
我知道
I know that, Johnny, I know it.
Taking over this local took a little doing.
There were rough fellas in the way. They gave me this to remember them by.
He kept his hand over his throat to stay alive and he still went after them.
I know what’s eating you.
I got 2,000 dues-paying members in this local, that’s $72,000 a year legitimate.
When each one of them puts in a couple of bucks a day just to make sure…
the work’s steady, well, figure it out.
That’s just for openers.
We’ve got the fattest piers in the fattest harbour in the world.
Everything moves in and out, we take our cut.
Why shouldn’t we? If we can get it, we’re entitled to it.
You don’t suppose I can afford to be boxed out of a deal like this, do you?
A deal I sweated and bled for, on account of one lousy little cheese-eater…
that Doyle bum, who thinks he can squeal to the crime commission. Do you?
Do you?
No, Johnny. I just figured I should have been told.
I make it $2,623.
You’re $50 short, Skins.
给我
Gimme.
-I must’ve miscounted. -Gimme!
You come from Green Point, go back there. You don’t work here no more.
Here, kid, here’s half a bill. Go get you a load on.

It is always up there, close to the clouds,
on the topmost floors of the sky-reaching towers of big business.
And because it is high in the sky,
you may think that those who work there are somehow above and beyond
the tensions and temptations of the lower floors.
This is to say that it isn’t so.
Goodbye, Julius. – A pleasure, Mr. Bullard.
Caswell.
Mr. Bullard. Good afternoon, Mr. Bullard.
Straight wire.
That’ll be $1 even, please.
Out of five?
And four. – Thank you.
Taxi!
Hey, there, taxi!
Taxi…
Oh, no.
Your friend Avery Bullard didn’t come all the way up here from Millburgh
just to taste the steamed finnan haddie in our private dining room.
Salty today.
And all those hints about his upcoming earnings report.
He was just softening us up for another debenture deal,
another five million teeth for us to pull for his Tredway Corporation.
Such talk from a member of his board of directors.
The only reason he put me on was
to wrap up Steigel and Company for bond issues.
Tredway’s board. A rubber stamp for Bullard, you know that.
But always black ink.
Last year, five and a half million net after taxes.
That’s beside the point. Julius, you know how tough it is
to sell these investment fund boys on a one-man corporation.
Bullard hasn’t had an executive vice-president since Fitzgerald died.
They want to see continuity of management,
a second-in-command in case…
My next birthday, I’m 71. Avery Bullard is only 56.
Fitzgerald was 50 the day they buried him. Why hasn’t Bullard replaced him?
He’s got five vice-presidents down there, all with equal authority,
all waiting, all wondering.
Well, if you ask me, they won’t be waiting and wondering much longer.
Always, Avery Bullard likes to take his top executive
from inside the company.
But always, first, he likes to convince himself
there’s nobody better on the outside.
It is my opinion, Mr. Caswell, that at lunch today,
you were crossed off the list.
Me? – Obvious.
You didn’t warn me, you didn’t say a word.
You wanted it?
Of course not. – So…
Julius, come here, quick.
What is it?
No. No, it isn’t.
It just looks like… – It’s Bullard.
Only a minute ago he was…
Avery Bullard.
Get me Phil Wingate and hurry.
A one-man company without its one man.
Hello, Phil. This is George Caswell.
You’ve got 43 minutes before the close.
I want you to start selling Tredway common short.
That’s right, short. Feed out all you can before the bell.
Yes, I said all you can, everything you can get rid off.
Do it in your name, not mine.
Okay, get to it.
When the Street finds out in the morning that Bullard is dead,
Tredway
Tredway is gonna break wide open.
Tomorrow is Saturday. The market is closed.
Well, all right, Monday. Give them a weekend to digest the bad news.
That’s the kind of gamble I like, a sure thing.
I’ll be able to buy that stock back for 10 points less than I sold it.
There are some ways that don’t seem right to make money.
All right, break it up. Break it up.
Move along, now, move along. All the way back.
Kennedy reporting. I got a John Doe here.
Dropped dead in front of the Chippendale building around 2:45.
Beekman Downtown took him to the morgue.
No, no identification.
Twenty-two, please.
上升。
Going up.
Hey, what you got there? – Telegram for Miss Martin.
I deliver all messages to executive suite.
Yes, well, will you send up the swatches, please?
You wait here.
That’s right. Send them to the Tower, not the house.
Yes, I’ll see that Mr. Bullard takes a look at them.
Thank you. We’ll be in touch with you.
Telegram, Miss Martin. – Oh, thank you, Luigi.
How’s your cold? – All right, thank you.
很好。
Good.
Mr. Bullard’s coming in. He’s arriving on the 5:49.
You want me to tell Eddie to be there with the car?
Mmm-hmm.
Oh, tell him not to have it sitting out in the sun again.
Mr. Bullard is coming here to the Tower?
Called a meeting for 6:00.
Oh, then I tell Maria not to wait with my supper.
Oh, no need, Luigi. The night man can take us down.
No, I don’t mind waiting for him.
Oh, Miss Martin. – Is he busy?
Group insurance meeting. – Oh.
请进。
Come in.
Excuse me. Jim.
There’s a wire from Mr. Bullard. He’s called an executive meeting.
Tonight? – 6:00.
Oh, just a minute, Miss Martin.
Gentlemen, we’ll continue this on Monday.
Right, I’ll check with Collins in the meantime.
Good. – Have a nice weekend, Fred.
Thank you. Bye, boys.
Do you have any idea what this is about? – No.
Did he say anything else in the wire? – No, Mr. Alderson.
Yes, sir. – Call my home, please.
Tell Mrs. Alderson if I’m not there when the guests arrive, not to wait for me.
Is he in?
Oh, gosh, Miss Martin, you just missed him. He got an early start on the weekend.
Well, you’ll have to call him back. Mr. Bullard wants him at 6:00.
There’s an executive meeting.
Oh, he’ll hate me. I know he’s already on his way to the Bay,
and I don’t see how I can reach him.
Well, call the turnpike toll station. They know Mr. Grimm.
Well, tell them to turn him back.
And has once again overrun

To the world we all know […]

To the world we all know
which may or may not be the best world possible
once again spring time had come
But all the magical spring was not enough
to conceal the misery of manor farm
Once striving and fruitfull the farm and it’s owner
Mr Jermans had fallen on evil days
Decept by problems of his own making
Mr Jermans had turned to drink
And for his misery he had found fine company
On the evening our story begins it was later than usual
when Mr Jermans came home from drinking to make his rounds
On this night all the animals had agreed
that as soon as Mr Jermans was in bed
they would gather in the main barn for a secret meeting
called by Old Major
the pryest bullhog who because of his years
was regarded as by far the wisest of the animals
The other pigs started first for the meeting
being clever and found to taking the lead
They were followed by Boxer
the largest and strongest of the horses
and his devoted friend Benjamin the donkey
All the other animals great and small were anxious to get there
for such a meeting has never been held before
Old Major had been ailing and now he had made known there were some things
he wanted to say to his fellow animals before it might be too late
It took a while for all to find their seats
The pigs have taken up the best positions
immediatly in front of the platform
mong them Snowball determined to get a good view
And Napoleon equally determined and even less polite
Dear What was that?
不
No
No it wasn’t Mr Jermans
And at last everyone could be settled to hear up Old Major
My dear friends I have lived a long live
I have had much time to thought as I layed alone in my stole
I won’t be with you much longer And before I die there is something I want to tell you
Few of us will ever know the blessings of a piecefull old age
You Boxer, when you have given the last of your great strength
What then?
Whatever we produce is taken from us Stolen from us And sold
Our children are born to cold and hunger
Look at them while you can
You porkers You know what the future holds for you?
Do we deserve such a fate?
Is this farm too poor to support us all
No comrades When the farm is rich
we would never get our rigthfull share from farmer Johns
Who has only seen your tyrant And we shall be rich and free!
同志们
Comrades,
革命
Revolt!
But remember:
when you have got rid of Johns Don’t adopt his wises!
We animals are brothers
Large or small clever or simple fur or feathers
now and forever all animals are equal!
The very next morning – sooner perhaps then Old Majer would have predicted –
the animals found their situation quite unbearable
And so almost before they realised it,
the animals have fought and won
They had causalties to moan
and those who died left children to be cared for
But manor farm was theirs and they lost no time
in destroying everything that reminded them of hatefull Mr Jermans
When it came to Mr Jermans’s house the animals hesitated
Napolen showed the way, but Snowball took the lead
in entering the place where their tyrant had lived
The animals were all agreed that Johns’s house was no place for them
All, that is except Napoleon
Meantime Snowball lead the other animals in organizing a new society
which they now named Animal Farm
So that all might see and agree
the laws of animal farm where inscribed in a prominent place
to be remembered and obeyed forever
NO ANIMAL SHALL SLEEP IN A BED
NO ANIMAL SHALL DRINK ALCOHOL
FOUR LEGS GOOD TWO LEGS BAD
Wings count as legs
Four legs good two legs bad
NO ANIMAL SHALL KILL ANOTHER ANIMAL
ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL
Tending farm by themselves caused problems to the animals
but the pigs could figure a way around every difficulty
Boxer was the admiration of everybody
He had been a hard worker in Johns’s time
But now he seemed more like three horses in one
Instructed by Snowball other animals worked out the rest for themselfes
And the farm work was done like magic
The success of their effort delighted everyone
including the sly Napoleon and his constant companion fat pig Squiler
That somer the animals without any help or any interference
made a going proposition of animal farm
The fields yielded richly and they were cut and gleamed with dilettance and devotion
With the harvest safely home the animals had time to think of the future
and at a meeting in the big barn many resolutions were put forward
It was always the pigs how made the resolutions
Comrades Our first five month plan is a farmwide triumph
and the time has come to spread the glorious news
So that our downtrodden comrades on other farms
will break their chains and join the animal revolution
Go! Tell them on there is an animal farm to the world!
Some animals content with their luck
were unimpressed by tales of peace and plenty
Others happy in their own surroundings
were alarmed of the sort of any change
But whereever they were having a bad time animals listened with interest
In certrain quarters the rebellious behavior of a lot of dumb animals
caused indignation much conversation
but nothing was done about it
For the drunken Mr Jermans and his cronies did not know what to do
Snowball felt that education was the animals next necessity
Some of the animals were brighter than others of course
Four legs good two legs bad
Snowball set himself to solve the problem of power on the farm
And so did Napoleon
In january there came bitterly hard weather
Inexperienced management brought shortages to animal farm
but Snowball continued his thinking for the future
And in such thoughts he was not alone
同志们
Comrades
I have prepared a new plan for animal farm
在这里
Here it is
All it needs is your votes
At first we will have to work more and eat less
But my plan will bring us elektricity
It will mean a worm pound in winter

– Your Bible, padre. Don’t lose it now.
– Thank you.
I expected to find a small trading post,
and instead, Sodom and Gomorrah.
All because someone has found gold in this earth.
You looking for it too, padre?
I came here as a missionary to the Indians.
I think the white man will need me more.
– Good evening, padre.
– Good evening.
Who’s in charge of all this?
The padre’d say the devil.
What about this trading post? The devil got that too?
No, I still got this.
I’m looking for a boy. About nine?
I’m gonna file my claim
I got the fever Oh, the fever
But not for gold in the ground
I want the title to something vital
