进来 Come in. Mr Spencer. Mr Spencer, I hate […]

进来
Come in.
Mr Spencer. Mr Spencer, I hate to bother you…
but I thought you’d like to know there were two men here.
Two men askin’ for you.
A young man and a kind of older man.
They was sorry you wasn’t in. I said you wasn’t.
– Did they say they’d be back? – They didn’t say, but I think they will.
Just now, when I had to go to the store, I seen them standing there at the corner.
Maybe I shoulda let them in, only you said not to disturb you –
– Yes. – And I’m sure They’ll be back.
You look kinda tired to me, and that’s a fact.
You got a headache or somethin’?
I think maybe you need a real rest. That’s what I think.
Why, Mr Spencer. You oughtn’t to leave all that money lying around like that.
Oh, it makes me nervous to see money lying around.
Everybody in the world ain’t honest, you know.
Though I must say I haven’t had much trouble that way.
Those friends of yours told me not to mention they’d called.
Wanted to surprise you. But I thought you’d like to know somehow.
Yes, yes. Of course. If they come back, you may show them in.
Yes. You know, Mrs Martin, it’s very funny.
They aren’t exactly friends of mine. They’ve never seen me.
– That’s odd, isn’t it? – ‘Tis odd, like you say.
And now that I’m here, I’ll have to meet them.
I may even go out and meet them.
And then again, I may not. Not yet.
You go ahead with your nap. I’ll pull down the blind.
What do you know? You’re bluffing. You’ve nothing on me.
Hello, Postal Union? I want to send a telegram
to Mrs Joseph Newton in Santa Rosa, California.
Here’s the message. Ready?
Lonesome for you all. Stop.
Am coming out to stay with you awhile. Stop.
Will arrive Thursday and try and stop me.
Will wire exact time later.
Love to you all…
and a kiss for little Charlie from her Uncle Charlie.
That’s right. That’s the signature. “Uncle Charlie. ”
That’s right. Santa Rosa.
Santa Rosa, California.
Ann! Answer the telephone.
Newton’s residence. Ann Newton speaking.
Oh, hello, Mrs Henderson. This is Ann.
Mother isn’t home yet.
电报?我…
A telegram? Well…
I don’t see a pencil, so maybe she better call you back.
I’m trying to keep my mind free of things that don’t matter…
because I have so much to keep on my mind.
Innumerable things.
I’ll have her call back. Thank you for calling.
再见
Goodbye.
Hello, Ann. Where’s your mother?
– She ‘ s out. – Out?
Mrs Henderson just called from the Postal Union Office.
She says we have a telegram.
I would have taken it down, only I couldn’t find a pencil. I looked.
Telegram, eh?
I knew there’d be trouble if your Aunt Sarah got her driver’s licence.
– Whereabouts was the accident? – I didn’t take notes.
Oh. Then how about a kiss?
Isn’t that the funniest thing? Here I am, practically a child
and I wouldn’t read the things you read.
Mm-hm. Well, I guess they’d give you bad dreams.
Bad dreams? You don’t understand, Papa. Mystery stories have done –
– Where’s Roger? – Out. The average mind –
– Where’s Charlie? – Out. No, she’s in her room thinking.
Well, don’t read too much. You’ll ruin your eyes.
And leave my book alone. What’s that you’re reading?
– Ivanhoe. – Hm? Oh.
– Who is it? – It’s me.
What’s the matter? Don’t you feel well?
No. I’m perfectly well.
I’ve just been thinking for hours, and I’ve come to the conclusion I give up.
– I simply give up. – What are you going to give up?
Have you ever to thought that a family should be the most wonderful thing ever?
And that this family’s just gone to pieces?
– We have? – Of course we have.
We just sort of go along and nothing happens. We’re in a terrible rut.
It’s been on my mind for months. What’s going to be our future?
Oh, come now, Charlie. Things aren’t as bad as that.
– The bank gave me a raise last January. – Money.
How can you talk about money when I’m talking about souls?
We eat and sleep and that’s about all.
We don’t even have any real conversations.
– We just talk. – And work.
Yes. Poor Mother. She works like a dog.
– Just like a dog. – Where is she?
She’s out. When she comes back, it’ll be the same thing.
Dinner, then dishes, then bed. I don’t see how she stands it.
You know, she’s really a wonderful woman.
I mean, she’s not just a mother. And I think we ought to do something for her.
– Don ‘ t you think we should? – Yeah. What were you thinking of?
Oh, nothing, I suppose.
I guess we’ll just have to wait for a miracle or something.
Oh, now, Charlie, you’re right. Absolutely right.
– I’ll figure out some way – – I don’t believe in good intentions now.
– All I’m waiting for now is a miracle. – Oh, Charlie.
Those back stairs are steep.
What’s the matter, Charlie? What’s the matter, Joe?
– Well, it seems that, uh – – Oh, I’ve become a nagging old maid.
You went downtown in that awful old hat you’d promised you’d throw away.
– Mama. – Darling, does it matter what hat I wear?
– Mama. – Why do you let that child yell at you?
– If she – – I’m going downstairs, anyway.
Joe, what were you both talking about when I came in?
Something about a miracle.
Oh, it’s nothing. Charlie ‘ s a bit under the weather.
Oh. Well, she ‘ II be all right.
Well, come on, dear. Let’s go downstairs. No use standing here.
I’m going to get myself a bottle of beer.
Mother, I’m going downtown and send a telegram.
Why, darling, who do you know to send a telegram to?
I know a wonderful person who’ll come and stir us up. Just the one to save us.
What do you mean, “save us”?
All this time, there’s been one right person to save us.
– What’s Uncle Charlie’s address? – Uncle Charlie?
– You’re not going to ask him for money? – Of course not.
That wouldn’t help us. What’s his address?
– The last address I had – – Do you know how many steps it is
to get from here to the drugstore and back?
– 6♥4♥9. – 6♥4♥9. – If you’ve forgotten, I won’t tell you.
– I remember. Philadelphia.
You can’t ask a busy man to come all this way for nothing.
He’ll come for me. I’m named after him.
Besides, we’re the only relatives he has in the world.
If you come all the way up Fourth Street, it’s 802.
– Mama, guess what? – I have no time for guessing.
What’s that thing in your hair?
Well, I’ll tell you anyway, even though I think it’s nicer when people guess.
Mrs Henderson said to call her at the telegraph office. We have a telegram.

As Hevry Van Cleve’s soul passed over the Great Divide
He realized that it was extremely unlikely that his next stop could be Heaven
And so philosophically he presented himself where innumerable peaple had so often told him to go
How do you do Mr Van Cleve Good afternoon Your Excellency
Very kind of you to receive me Not at all
Really sometimes it looks as if the whole world is coming to hell
Frankly I haven’t had an opportunity to familiarize myself with your case
When did it happen Mr Van Cleve
Tuesday To be exact I died at 9:36 in the evening
A good one I hope Oh excellent excellent
I ate everything the doctor forbade and then
well to make a long story short
shall we say I fell asleep without realizing it
And when I awakened there were all my relatives speaking in low tones
and saying nothing but the kindest things about me
Then I knew I was dead
I presume your funeral was satisfactory
Well there was a lot of crying so
I believe everybody had a good time
It would have been an ideal funeral
if Mrs Cooper Cooper a friend of the family
hadn’t volunteered to sing “The End of a Perfect Day ”
You see all my life I had succeeded in avoiding Mrs Cooper Cooper’s coloratura
and this undoubtedly was her revenge
Mr Van Cleve I can see that you have a sensitive cultivated ear
Oh thank you
Then let me warn you
The music down here is anything but pleasant
Beethoven Bach Mozart
you hear them only
above
去上面
Yes I know
It won’t be easy not to hear the old masters again
And there are several people up there I would love to see
Particularly one
A very dear one
But I haven’t a chance Have you tried
No Your Excellency I have no illusions
I know the life I lived I know where I belong
I would like to get it over as quickly as possible
Very well
很好
If you meet our requirements we’ll be only too glad to accommodate you
Would you be good enough to mention for instance
some outstanding crime you’ve committed
Crime Crime
I’m afraid I can’t think of any
But I can safely say my whole life was one continuous misdemeanor
My dear Mr Van Cleve a passport to hell is not issued on generalities
No I’m afraid you’ll have to wait until I have time to study your record
Now look here I have to see His Excellency

Goddard’s just arrived, Spud.
What’s the ruddy idea?
It’s total war, isn’t it? What do you want?
– Message from HQ. Where’s the CO? – In the barn. Follow me.
Message from headquarters, sir.
– Sergeant Hawkins? – Sir.
– Read it. – Sir.
It’s in code, sir. Message begins:
“Exercise invasion of the London area by Regular Army.
Home Guard defending.
War starts at midnight.”
Message ends.
The CO’s put in pencil here, sir, “Make it like the real thing.”
Oh, he has, has he?
Section commanders.
(Whistles)
Message from HQ. War starts at midnight. You have your orders. Tell the men.
– Tell them to make it like the real thing. – What do you mean by the real thing?
Divide our losses by 10 and multiply the enemy’s by 20.
– Yes, sir. – That’s all for now.
– Anything for me, sir? – No, no, nothing else.
War starts at midnight. We know…
– They know… – We attack…
They counterattack.
Like the real thing, my Aunt Fanny!
Like the real thing…
Like the real thing!
Sergeant Hawkins, section commanders!
So, war starts at midnight, does it?
– Sir. – We attack at six.
From your section – Rice, Unsworth, the two Owens,
– Nobby, Toots and Cochran. – Not Cochran.
Stuffy, who are the biggest toughs in your lot?
– Bill Wall, Wimpey, Popeye. – Right. Yours, Robin?
– Frank, Skeets, Duggie Stuart, sir. – Taffy, Geordie, sir.
Busty, Simms and Pat Sullivan, sir.
Dai Evans…we must have him, look you.
All right, get going.
Excuse me, sir?
Did you say that we attack before war is declared?
Yes, like Pearl Harbor. Now, get going.
By the way, there’s just one stop…at The Bull.
I’ve got a date there with Mata Hari.
– Careless talk? – Yeah. Now, scram.
Five minutes easy, Sergeant.
Five minutes easy, Stuffy.
I wonder what’s keeping Spud.
快点
Come on.
– Afternoon, Sergeant Hawkins. – Afternoon, miss.
– Hey! – Back on the trucks.
Spud?
There’s Spud.
Spud?
– What’s the matter? What’s the matter? – Sir, what happened?
– Spud! – She got me.
– Who? – Mata Hari! Come on, quick…
– Any luck? – Not a hope. She’s halfway to London by now.
She’s gone to warn the wizard. Come on, get my tin hat. Come on!
The barricade’s open, sir.
该死！
God damn it!
You know, you ought to have one of these field dressings on that.
Save it for her. She’ll need it somewhere else when I catch up with her.
See that barricade, my boys?
At midnight on the dot, it’s got to be closed,
and, of course, the enemy can’t get through before,
because why?
Because… War starts at midnight!
– What’s the objective, sir? – Royal Bathers’ Club.
What about Mata Hari?
We’ll beat her to it. I know a couple of short cuts after Marble Arch.
There she is!
Get the other trucks to close up.
See if you can pass her.
Blast that taxi!
稳住
Steady.
Keep right on his tail.
直走
Keep straight on.
Second left. We’ve got her!
Come on, Section. Number two? Number three?
– You have your orders. Sergeant Hawkins. – Sir.
Yes, l…
– Is General Wynne-Candy here? – He left an hour ago
with Brigadier General Caldicott and Air Vice Marshal Lloyd-Hughes.
– Did he say where he was going? – What is your business with him?
I have an urgent message.
If you give me the message, I’ll see he gets it.
Damn it all, man! Are you in the Home Guard?
什么？
Why, sir?
The password is Veuve Clicquot 1911.
The General and his staff are in the Turkish baths, sir.
Sergeant Hawkins? You’re in charge. Stay with him.
And you’re a prisoner of war.
– It doesn’t start till midnight. – That’s what you think.
– That girl under the desk, she’s a prisoner too. – Sir.
All right, boys, this is it. Brute force and ruddy ignorance!
Come on. After him! Double up.
(Telephone buzzes)
You’re a prisoner.
Guard this man. And answer that damn telephone!
Yes? Yes, miss? Warn General Wynne-Candy? Can’t do that, miss.
Sorry, miss. The General’s a prisoner, and so are you.
Oh! The war’s over.
(Confused shouting)
安静
Quiet!
Are you the ringleader of this outrage?
请安静
Quiet, please!
This is an Army exercise. You’re all prisoners. Now, stay where you are.
– Come here. Where’s General Wynne-Candy? – Who, sir?
– You heard. – In the steam room.
Come on, then, show me the way. Go on.
是他了
This is it.
Lieutenant Wilson, 2nd Battalion, the Loamshires, sir.
What do you want?
Well, sir… I’m afraid, sir, we’ve…
Well, say it, man, say it. I’ve no time to waste.
Oh, yes, you have, sir.
I beg your pardon, sir?
You’ve got all night, sir.
立正
Attendant!
I’m afraid he can’t come.

Lassie Come Home is the story of a dog
But it’s also the story of a people
As strong and enduring in peace as they are in war
The people of Yorkshire.
The county of Eric Knight’s birth and boyhood.
This man is a Yorkshireman.
Sam Carraclough, and his dog, Lassie.
Lassie is Sam’s only saleable possession
In the dark prewar days of unemployment, empty pockets and the dole.
Hello, Sam. You here, too?
Hello, Tom. Ron. Hello, Sam.
Hello, Lassie.
Good day to you, my girl.
She looks champion, Sam. Tell the truth, Tom. Have you ever seen anything better?
No. I was only talking to my missis the other night, Sam.
That’s just what I said to her.
I said, “If ever there was a better dog in all Yorkshire than Sam’s Lassie
“Then she must’ve died before ever I was born.”
That’s what I said.
She’s in pretty fair shape, she is but I do believe her coat could be a wee bit shinier.
You know, Sam, they do say that cod-liver oil is good to make a dog’s coat shiny.
Some of these fancy breeders give it to their dogs pretty regular.
If we could afford cod-liver oil for our dogs
Perhaps we could get ourselves a little bit of beef once in a while.
It’s Joe she’s thinking of, at school.
Has she ever been late, Sam?
Never. There seems to be something inside her telling her when it’s time.
去吧
Go along, then.
Joe Carraclough. Apply yourself to your lessons, lad.
莱西
Lassie.
Joe, lad! Must you always come in like thunder off the moors?
Sorry, Mother.
Lassie and me, we want some bread and jam. Don’t we now, Lassie?
Bread you can have, but jam you’ll do without.
If there’s no jam, honey will do.
Honey, is it?
There’s some nice beef dripping I have
And that’s what you’ll get.
Thanks, Mother. Here you are, lad. Now run along.
Have a good time with Lassie today. I will, Mother.
But why especially today, Mother?
Did I say today especially, lad?
I didn’t mean to. Now run along.
Hello, Father.
Did thou see the Duke today, Sam?
Aye. He’ll be by tomorrow.
拿去
Here you are.
Hello, Lassie.
好吧
All right, girl.
Downstairs. Come on, downstairs.
All right, I’ll get up.
Why, Father!
Look, Father. Look what I’ve taught Lassie.
You seem worried, Father. Is it about your work?
不是
No, lad.
It’s not that.
But whatever trouble comes, remember, we’ve got to be men together.
Do you see? Aye, Father.
Make haste, now. You’ll be late for school. Come.
Thank you, Lassie.
What’s the matter, Lassie? Don’t you want me to go?
I’ll be out at 4:00, as usual.
Bide well, Lassie.
She’s a beauty, Carraclough.
She’s just come back from seeing my lad to school, sir.
Fifteen guineas. Wasn’t that the price you said? Yes, sir.
I got the best of it, Carraclough. I am an honest man, so I got to tell you I got the best of it.
Are you quite sure you want to sell her?
No, Your Grace. I have to.
It’s a fair price.
Put a collar on her and lead her from the back of the cart. Yes, sir. Get a move on.
Good day, Mrs. Carraclough. Good day, Carraclough.
All right, Rogers.
Happen we should be telling Joe?
He’ll be finding this out for himself.
莱西
Lassie
莱西
Lassie
Mother!
Mother, something’s happened to Lassie.
She didn’t meet me at school today.
What is it? What’s wrong?
You may as well know it right off.
Lassie won’t be waiting for you at school anymore.
Why not? What’s happened?
Because she’s sold, that’s why not.
Sold?
Why did you sell her?
Lassie. Why did you sell her?
She’s sold and gone and done with it. Let’s say no more about it.
But, Mother…No more. Sit down and have your tea.
Sam, come and eat.
Now look what you’ve done. Got thy father all angry.
I suppose you’re happy now.
Come on, Joe. Eat up.
I don’t want any.
Dogs.
If you ask me, I’m glad Lassie’s gone. That I am.
More trouble to take care of than a child.
Now it’s done, I’m glad. I’m glad, that I am.
过来
Come here, Joe.
Look, Joe, you’re getting to be a big lad now, and you can understand.
Lassie cost a lot of money to feed
And we’ve got to have food on the table. We’ve got to pay the rent,
And we just couldn’t afford it. And that’s all.
These are poor times, Joe. You mustn’t upset your father.
He’s worried enough as it is, and…
That’s all. She’s gone.
Couldn’t we buy her back someday?
No, Joe.
Lassie was a very valuable dog,
Much too much for us.
But we’ll get another dog someday. Just wait.
Times might pick up and we’ll get another tyke.
You’d like that, wouldn’t you?
I don’t want any. I only want Lassie.
Priscilla, I’m going down to the kennels.
Hynes.
Don’t know what the world’s coming to. Servants no good.
Country’s going to pot. Nonsense.
What’s that? I said, nonsense.
I thought that’s what you said. Fine state the world’s in when the only person
With courage enough to answer me back is my own granddaughter. That’s ’cause you’re like me, my dear.
I want to show you my new dog. Look, I’m glad you turned up.
Finest collie I ever set eyes on. I’ve been after her for three years. Three years? Three years.
Last year, I offered the fellow 15 guineas for her.

His Excellency, the Reich Protector, will arrive shortly.
What progress have you made, General Votruba… in your recruiting your Czech anti-Soviet battalion?
– You know the Fuhrer counts on you. – Yes, but it’s extremely difficult… our peasants and workers are, unfortunately very sympathetic… to the Russians.
Perhaps our production would increase if our Skoda workers were allowed higher pay… since our food allowance is very low… frequently resulting in exhaustion.
Admittedly, your workers may be under paid as workers… but as an inferior race, as slaves, they are highly over paid.
Give them higher wages, you say?
So they can print more of this underground propaganda?
They distribute this criminal material everyday in the Skoda plant.
Every department is contaminated!
Herr Excellence, the Reich Protector!
His Excellency, the Reich Protector, wishes to say… that the reports from Skoda are a putrid mess.
The stinking swine at Skoda refuse to work.
In Skoda, there are 37,000 workers there.
And the sabotage is out of control … yet only 50 were executed.
Why not 500?
What did he say?
He said “Shooting only 50 out of 37,000 is ridiculous”… he demands at least 500 lives. The restrictions mean nothing at all.
安静!
Silence!
The munitions factory in Czechoslovakia … will be put in the hands of the Gestapo.
I personally, will be responsible for Skoda.
If I may, your Excellence… isn’t there some better way, something not so drastic… Is this man crazy … talking to me in this language?
I insist that all Czech only speak in German. You got that?
德国!德国!德国!德国!
German! German! German! German!
I’ll teach these sheep at the Skoda factory to obey… not to turn to listen to or obey traitors ever again.
My car!
For those who failed to understand his Excellence’s last remarks… the entire Czech armament production … is now transferred to my authority, under the Gestapo.
The Reich Protector himself will supervise personally… the necessary executions at the Skoda plant.
To Skoda!
Mrs. Dvorak!
– Good morning, Mrs. Novotny. – Good morning.
I hope I can have 2 lbs. of potatoes.
I’m sorry, Mrs. Novotny, perhaps tomorrow.
The turnips are nice.
Well, I guess it will have to be turnips again, and a nice head of cabbage.
– Why is your motor running? – Just waiting for my fare.
You know that gasoline is ordered not to waste?
Yeah, but my battery is run down, it won’t start up again.
停车!停车!
Stop the motor! Stop the motor!
Now, start it up again.
I… I guess it must have charged up.
So, you carry on this sabotage trick to use up our fuel supply.
– Continue and do not stop. – I do not know, don’t understand it.
– I had to crank it up this morning. – Drive to the police precinct.
– Yeah, but it never charged up… – Forward! Forward!
Vanya was arrested. Get going, quick.
Haya。
Haya.
Pardon me Miss, but did you see a taxi cab waiting?
Yes, a few minutes ago… he seemed to had some trouble with the Occupational Police.
They drove off with him.
Thank you.
Go over there.
You, look over there.
Hey, Miss..
A man running out from that alley. Did you see him?
是的。
Yes.
In which direction did he run?
This way!
You better go home, now.
And put it on the books.
Thank you, Mrs. Dvorak.
Who cares? We got Heydrich
State of emergency loitering forbidden, close doors and windows.
No loitering. State of emergency.
不!不!
No! No!
– But I’m to stay here. – No you can’t.
But why? Because of the taxi drivers arrest?
I don’t know, orders.
But I can’t go home. Someone may have recognized me.
– Go to a hotel. – But they’ll check all the hotels – Where shall I go? – I can’t take you?
I always dreamed of giving a my little girl the most beautiful trousseau… But with these Germans, all the shops have been scrapped bare.
But mother, I can’t imagine anything prettier. And it was yours.
– All it needs is a little cutting down. – Cutting down?
Now look, Aunt Millie, I suggested it 3 months ago and everyday since.
– Now there is only 2 weeks left. – Hello, girls.
– Hello father. – Hello, Stepan.
Helene.
Nothing wrong, Stepan, is there?
No, no, nothing at all.
– Someone shot Heydrich. – Shot Heydrich? When?
– Where? – At noon on Kladno Avenue… what we now must call “Ludendorf Street”.
It’s all in the paper there.
Father.
Yes?
I think I must have seen him. The man who shot…
Close the door.
– I’m sure I saw him. – You haven’t seen anyone.
– I’m certain I have. – You haven’t seen anyone!
Father, you don’t have any connection… No, monkey, hardly. I’ve been politically disconnected for over 15 years now.
It’s best in such matters, one doesn’t talk.
例子:你告诉A…A委托给B, B限制在C…C把秘密交给D，它离E或F不远。
Example: You tell it to A… A entrust it to B, B confines in C… C reposes the secret to D and it’s not very far from E or F.
F reports it G and G stands for Gestapo.
Yes, I understand. But to you father… Listen, come here, come here. Look.
这里。
Here.
Definition of “No one”… “not any, not one, not a single one, none!”
Not to me, not to your mother not to your little brother… not even to your fiance, Jan. No one is “no one”!
Look, I’ve had that old battery for 5 years. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don’t.
It’s full of quarks!
There is some quarks to the tags, also.
According to the Gestapo, they belong to a car that was burned… last October.
– Is that the late paper? – Yep.
Can I look at it?
是的。
Yep.
Your cab was the getaway car!.
I don’t know nothing about it.
You will talk to the Gestapo.
注意!
Attention!
